Volunteer Spotlight

I would like to give special thanks to our volunteers, Julie Ufford and Yashar Afkari, two students at Johns Hopkins University and members of the school’s Office of Sustainability Outreach. They have been great additions to our team, and are willing to help whenever they can.

Yashar has gone above and beyond his normal duties as a volunteer. He has joined us in door-to-door canvassing, phone banking, and supported us at our Roland Park community energy meeting this past Wednesday. Immediately after helping us at one event, he always takes the time to contact us and ask how he can help out again.

Julie joined me at the Waverly Farmer’s market on Saturday, July 23rd, for early morning outreach to help promote our July 27th community energy meeting at the Roland Park Library. Despite having told me she had never canvassed before, Julie performed like an expert, easily connecting with interested homeowners. On top of that, her perseverance shined through when stormy weather decided to pay a visit to the market.

Way to go Yashar and Julie! Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedules to expand our project.
