Drs. Alan Schwartz and Carla Rosenthal were recipients of a full Home Energy Assessment by our enthusiastic building analyst, Paul. Among the discovered potentials for upgrading were updating attic insulation, sealing air leaks throughout the entire house and blocking an unused chimney that is currently a major energy drain. Paul also provided a few recommendations for appliance upgrades and isolating cold air in one part of the basement to prevent wasting heat in the adjacent finished cellar.
Drs. Schwartz and Rosenthal were very enthusiastic to learn all they could about how to lower the environmental impact of their home. “Paul spent a lot of time explaining the principles underlying energy efficiency”, said Dr. Schwartz, who also stated that the assessment “provided both a comprehensive assessment and education, and should pave the way for a carefully considered action plan”. They mentioned to their Retrofit Baltimore energy advocate that it was good to have the technician show them how to enhance the value of their home now before the time comes for them to consider selling it. They were also very pleased with Paul, who walked them through every step of the assessment and answered questions along the way.
We’re looking forward to scheduling more energy assessments in Roland Park in the coming months!
